FAQ- Quick Answers to Common Questions

Can China's universities provide programs taught in English?

Yes, China’s universities offer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate programs taught in English. These programs are primarily in MBBS, business, engineering, and computer science and technology.

What are JW201 and JW202 Form?

The JW201 Form, also known as the “Visa Application for Study in China (for Chinese Government Scholarship Recipients),” is issued to students who have been awarded a Chinese Government Scholarship. This form is necessary for applying for a student visa (X1 visa) to study in China. It is provided by the Chinese universities or institutions that have admitted the scholarship recipients.

The JW202 Form is issued to international students who are provincial scholarhsip or others scholarhsip by other organizations. Like the JW201 Form, it is required for applying for a student visa (X1 visa) to study in China. The form is provided by the Chinese universities or institutions where the student has been accepted.

How many universities recruit international students in China?

Nearly 1,000 universities in China recruit international students, but only around 300 are internationally recognized. This makes it challenging to find the right school and program.

I can't find the program I want to apply to. What should I do?

If you can’t find a program in English, it means there may not be one available in Chinese universities. You can apply for a Chinese language course first, then apply for the program in Chinese, or you can search for a different program.

Do I need to take an IELTS or TOEFL exam before applying?

There is no requirement for an IELTS or TOEFL exam for undergraduate and postgraduate programs taught in English. However, students with a good background in English are strongly advised to apply.

Do I need HSK for an English degree program?

No, the HSK is not required for English-taught programs. However, you will need to pass the HSK for Chinese-taught programs, the level of which depends on the university and the program.

Are the same documents required for non-degree programs?
  1. No, for non-degree programs, you usually need:

  • Application form
  • Photocopy of passport
  • Photocopy of highest academic diploma or certificate
  • A copy of the guarantor’s passport or ID
  • Some universities require additional documents. Contact us for more information.
Do I need a visa to study in China?
  1. Yes, international students need an ordinary passport and either an X1 visa (for study periods longer than 180 days) or an X2 visa (for study periods of no more than 180 days). Apply for a Chinese visa at your nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate.
Why do we suggest not applying to university directly?

The application process is complicated. Many universities do not have online applications, and completing the process correctly can be difficult. The university admission committees process thousands of applications annually, which can lead to delays in responses. Additionally, admission packages may need to be recovered during delivery, risking your chance of studying in China.

How much can this scholarship save for you?

A full scholarship can cover tuition fees, accommodation, and a monthly allowance, totaling up to $30,000-$40,000. A partial scholarship can cover tuition fees and accommodation or just tuition fees, totaling up to $10,000-$20,000.

Why do students need to pay a deposit?

Due to the low service fee, many students provide documents but refuse to come after successful admission. The deposit ensures commitment. If you refuse admission, the deposit is non-refundable. Without a deposit, we cannot process your documents.

If I fail to get the scholarship, is the application fee refundable?

No, the application process is complex and time-consuming, so the application fee is non-refundable.

Why do I have to pay an application fee?

Every university in China requires an application fee to process documents, prepare the student visa, and send documents to your home country.

Do I have to pay RK Edu for the services as well?

Yes, students must pay an application processing fee to RK Edu. Our expert consultants will assist you with payment methods.

What are the required documents for a degree program?

After receiving the acceptance letter, you must wait for the admission letter and JW form, which takes 2 weeks to 2 months. We will send the original admission letter and Visa Application (JW) form to your home address. Submit these to your local Chinese Embassy with other required documents to get a Chinese visa.

Are the same documents required for non-degree programs?
  1. Yes, similar documents are required for degree programs, especially for Bachelor’s:

  • Passport scan copy
  • Passport-size photo
  • Transcripts and certificate (notarized)
  • Police clearance/non-criminal certificate
  • Physical examination report
  • CV/resume
  • Bank statement
  • Study gap certificate (if applicable)

Do I need to complete any medical check for a Chinese visa?

How are courses in Chinese universities classified?

Courses are mainly classified into arts, science, engineering, medicine, and business administration. There are also non-degree courses like Chinese, tea culture, cuisine, kung fu, traditional Chinese opera, and acrobatics.

How much time will it take for the application processing?

The application process takes 2 to 8 weeks.

How many scholarships can a student apply for?

Students can apply for multiple scholarships, but they are only eligible for one ISA scholarship. Additionally, students may receive one host university scholarship if offered.

How are scholarship decisions made?

An external committee of university officials reviews all eligible applications based on established criteria. The committee considers the student’s essay, transcript, and ISA Budget and Funding Form (if applicable).

What is the visa procedure for studying in China?

First-time visa applicants can receive a single entry permit. Second-time applicants may receive a 12-month multiple-entry permit. Students are eligible for X1 and X2 Chinese visas. RK Edu will help arrange the necessary visa documents with the respective university.

Can I apply through any local agency?

Yes, you can apply through a local agency, but applying directly is the same. However, local agencies may charge high service fees, recommend undesirable schools, and fail to provide necessary support in China.

Can students with O-LEVEL or IGCSE apply for Bachelor's programs in China?

Generally, China’s bachelor programs require high school graduates who have completed 12 years of study. O-LEVEL or IGCSE does not meet this requirement, so students with these qualifications are not eligible.

What's the procedure for applying through RK Edu?

First, discuss details with our expert education consultants to clarify every point about studying in China. The consultant will then handle the entire application and visa process.

Do we have a scholarship service fee?

How should I choose a course?

First, decide whether you want to study in Chinese or English. More than 700 universities in China accept international students for various majors. Choose your preferred major based on academic results and plans. It’s advisable to select an alternate course to ensure admission. Use online resources for more clarity on course selection.

How do you apply for a residence permit?

Apply for a residence permit within 30 days after entering China. The school will guide you and arrange the necessary documents, which you must submit to local immigration. Residence permits are usually issued annually, but some cities offer 4-year permits. Schools handle most of the documentation on your behalf.
